Sadness envelops me like a shroud.
Gloom glues my soul-feet down
Heavy and mucky and leaden
Unable to skip or spin or dance.
Melancholy settles in my heart like a weight,
Sorrow saps my strength
Sapping joy and laughter and bliss
Sapping soul sunshine like foggy morning mist.
Your lovely poem describes exactly how I felt this morning-funny how I clicked on your post. I hope your sadness passes quickly and you feel happy soon. I was in a simple funk.

Oh, you describe beautifully where I have been lately. For my post today, I wrote a list of what makes me happy. It seemed to help. Hope your soul-feet are soon skipping and dancing again!

I think I’ll write a slice like yours tomorrow. LIsting what makes me happy will be therapeutic.

The repetition and alliteration capture the mood in an apt description. May it be resolved and replaced with joy.

Sadness can be so heavy at times. You captured this so well in your poem. I think sadness like this needs a little sunshine kiss on the cheek to pull up your lips a bit into a smile. I hope your sadness take a vacation soon. 🙂

I’m so sorry that you’re experiencing such sadness. All I know is that without experiencing ALL emotions, including the lows we cannot truly appreciate the highs. Here’s hoping that this immersion and exploration of this darker emotion for you leads to you to a greater appreciation of the joy that waits you. Sending you some positive energy, BJ!
