Phone Poem

Standard

I learned about this form of poetry last year in SOL.  Write the digits of a phone number, and then write one phrase or sentence that has that number of words in it.  Try it.  It’s fun!

2 – Literacy Coach

6 – Walking alongside teachers and reflecting together.

2 – Powerful work!

3 – Working in classrooms

7 – That child is a puzzle. Need help?

6 –  What tangles in understanding need untangled?

6 – Let’s try this; Let’s try that.

8 – That didn’t work?  What else can we try?

6 – What’s that? A shift in learning?!?

2 – Let’s celebrate!

About bjdonaldson

I think of myself as a Renaissance woman with a variety of passions. If you visited me, you might find me hanging out with my husband and children. Our Golden Retriever would be lovingly near. I am a Literacy Coach/Reading Specialist at an elementary school where I provide professional development and coaching to teachers. Formerly, I was a Reading Recovery teacher, an interventionist, and a middle and elementary classroom teacher. Getting up in the morning is not hard; I still love making a difference in the lives of children and teachers.

  1. This is such a fun form! I discovered it a bit earlier this month, and really enjoyed writing mine. I feel like I want to find some new phone numbers and write another one. Maybe my childhood phone number, which I still know by heart?
