Oh, down I sit on Saturday
I want to write my slice.
Alas, what will I say?
The clock strikes five.
I sit to write.
Alas, the words don’t jive!
The clock strikes six.
I sit to write.
Alas, I’m in a fix.
The clock strikes seven.
What should I write?
Alas, some words from heav’n?
The clock strikes eight.
What can I write?
Alas, what is my fate?
The clock strikes nine.
I sigh to write!
Alas, my heart repines.
The clock strikes ten.
Again, again, again.
Alas, how dry my pen.
The clock strikes ten and one.
Have I my daily slice?
I do! I do!
It’s ten and two.
Alas, this poem was fun!
What a clever way to relate the stress of producing something each day. I have become a bit of clock watcher in March, getting more and more anxious as it gets closer to 10pm. It looks like I am not alone!

I can relate to that! However, I’m not sure I could have put it as well as you. Really cute poem.

Thanks. I had to smile at the end…especially after not having ANY ideas for today.

This is awesome. I know how it feels. Especially when nothing comes to mind.

I admire your dedication to poems! I’m rubbish at them, I have to stick to prose! 🙂

This was fun to write. It seemed lighthearted, and it didn’t seem to take so much thinking!

Isn’t it wonderful when poetry inspires us? Happy Saturday…or at least what is left of it since I’m commenting late today!

Sometimes that clock is not our friend. A fun poem for a frantic situation.

I struggled today as well – must be the full moon! I finally landed upon an idea that led me to a notebook entry, and finally a piece of writing. LOVE your poem – favorite stanza, “The clock strikes six. I sit to write. Alas, I’m in a fix.”

I really use my notebook, too, during the month of March. We have a big snow storm coming so I might be snuggling again tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by.
